AHD cameras are a great upgrade option for analog CCTV systems. These cameras work on BNC cable and can be used with a traditional monitor or a surveillance DVR. They use a Korean chip-set from NextChip to deliver HD video over RG59 coaxial cable.

AHD Technology

AHD is an analog HD technology developed by Korean chip-set manufacturer, NextChip. This new technology closes the gap between traditional analog systems and new HD technologies. AHD technology is able to transmit uncompressed HD 720P and 1080P video signals over existing coaxial cables that can be used for traditional CCTV systems.

This system allows you to upgrade your current CCTV security system by simply exchanging the cameras and DVR. This is a much cheaper option than upgrading to IP cameras and does not require any additional cabling. It also does not suffer from the same data protection issues as IP cameras.

Compared to regular composite analogue signal ahd 1080p camera transmission, AHD uses advanced Y/C signal separation and simulation filtering technology to achieve high image resolution with better image reproduction. In addition, it can be transmitted up to 500 meters over the common 75-3 cable with zero delay.

The best feature of AHD is that it can work on an existing analogue CCTV infrastructure without the need to replace existing cables or install extra cabling. It is easy to implement and maintain and works in real-time like conventional CCTV systems. Additionally, it is immune to electromagnetic interference. This is a major benefit for many customers since it reduces installation costs and allows them to keep their current system in place.

AHD Resolution

With resolutions up to 720p, AHD cameras are ideal for surveillance applications that require high definition footage. These include facial recognition, license plate identification and other critical security tasks. Additionally, AHD cameras provide superior image clarity compared to standard analog CCTV cameras.

Developed by Korean chipset manufacturer Nextchip, AHD technology uses the same infrastructure as traditional analog CCTV and is back-compatible with existing 960H DVRs. This allows you to upgrade your current CCTV system without having to replace the entire cable network.

AHD cameras use advanced Y/C signal separation and simulation filtering technology to reduce color noise in the high frequency area, resulting in better imaging than traditional analog CCTV. This improved image quality means you can see more detail and make more informed decisions in your surveillance setup.

In addition to video, AHD can transmit audio and control signals over a single coaxial cable. This can save time and money by avoiding the need to run separate cables for audio and power. While the Hanwha AHD DVR we tested did support AHD, it still had several limitations smart camera solutions and usability issues not found in competing products. For example, the DVR requires an administrator account and defaults to CIF resolution for AHD cameras.

AHD DVR
